The Good Lobby joined Transparency International EU and eight other civil society organisations in filing a formal ethics complaint against Swedish MEP Jörgen Warborn, rapporteur on the Omnibus I simplification package. The complaint raises serious concerns about a manifest conflict of interest: while leading efforts to roll back corporate sustainability and due diligence rules in Parliament, Warborn simultaneously serves as President of SME Europe, a registered lobby organisation actively campaigning for those same rollbacks.

This case highlights a broader and troubling pattern of weak enforcement of ethics rules within the European Parliament – at a time when public trust in EU institutions is already under strain. As The Good Lobby founder Professor Alberto Alemanno warned, when lobbying and law-making become indistinguishable, democracy itself is at risk.
