Today, a broad coalition of civil society organisations, including The Good Lobby, published an open letter warning of a growing pattern of corporate capture and industry-driven deregulation at the heart of EU policymaking.

The letter comes ahead of President von der Leyen’s meeting with the chemical industry lobby CEFIC, just hours before EU heads of state gather for a high-level retreat on “Competitiveness”. The timing raises serious concerns about privileged corporate access and the sidelining of democratic, environmental and social safeguards.

The coalition denounces the rise of a corporate-led “shadow roadmap” that risks dismantling protections on public health, chemicals, pesticides, climate and workers’ rights, often without proper scientific assessment or democratic scrutiny.

The signatories call for a fundamental shift in EU policymaking: away from deregulation driven by powerful lobbies, and toward transparent, evidence-based decision-making that puts people, planet and democracy first.
